History
Amongst the many activities carried out by Community Concern over the past 31 years of existence, Lotus Buds Children's Home proves a 24 year track record of upholding and maintaining the highest of standards of residential care under the Department of Childcare and Probation as Sri Lankan registered children's home.
Due to the extensive work specifically in the area of residential childcare-Community Concern's-KidzNet was birthed out of hearts that were touched during the aftermath of the December 2004, Tsunami.
In response to the vast devastation and destruction caused to the entire coastal belt of Sri Lanka, our children's home-Lotus Buds-- began a small scale relief outreach to other small, children's homes that were affected by the Tsunami and/or began to admit children who lost their families due the tragedy. Whilst our relief efforts made a temporary impact on these homes, we felt that God was prompting our hearts to a much more far-reaching, nationwide, long-term effort that would empower and encourage all of those working in residential care. Hence, KidzNet was born. Partnership in our work will enable KidzNet to impact hundreds of staff and thousands of Sri Lankan children at risk in residential care facilities throughout the nation. Through such a partnership we aim to impact and transform not only the quality of care available in private homes throughout the country but to positively impact this generation of children currently residing in these homes.
